Private mathematics tuition for secondary school, IB, SAT, ACT, and selected first- and second-year college and university mathematics courses.
Strong mathematical thinking begins with recognising structure. A student should understand not only how to perform a calculation, but why a method works and when it should be used.
My teaching focuses on conceptual understanding, problem solving, strategy and mathematical judgement. The objective is to develop students who can approach unfamiliar problems confidently and independently.
I also work with students taking selected first- and second-year mathematics courses at college and university.
Availability depends on the individual course and syllabus.
At university level, the challenge often shifts from applying familiar formulas to understanding notation, mathematical structure and increasingly abstract ideas.
Tuition can focus on course concepts, assignments, midterm preparation, final examinations or strengthening the mathematical foundations needed for later courses.
Mathematics has been at the centre of my teaching for more than eighteen years.
My work includes students studying IB Mathematics, SAT, ACT and selected first- and second-year college and university mathematics courses.
I believe strong students are not simply those who complete the greatest number of questions.
They are the students who have learned how to analyse a problem, recognise its structure and select the right mathematical approach.
The goal is ultimately independence: developing the judgement required to handle mathematics that has not been seen before.
